A gift to the city
Amsterdam is built on ideas, people and dreams from all over the world. Over the centuries, newcomers brought trade, knowledge, techniques, religions and new energy. They made sure our city’s doors opened and stayed open.
With the port as its beating vibrant heart, Amsterdam became a world city full of culture, diversity and progress.
Amsterdam became great because of newcomers. And we want to celebrate!
With a festive boat trip, we are symbolically giving a gift back to our city. Three days on the water for 750 young newcomers
– right in the heart of Amsterdam, during SAIL 2025.
What are we going to do?
During Amsterdam 750 and Sail 2025, we will invite 750 children of Amsterdam newcomers for a unique cruise on the enchanting waters of our city
In a colourful procession of sloops, we will sail past iconic spots of Amsterdam in the midst of the vibrant atmosphere of SAIL 2025 – an experience to remember!

Each day, 250 children and their supervisors will sail along in as many sloops as possible through the waters of Amsterdam.
Who is this event for?
This sloop event is specially designed for children of Amsterdam newcomers
– young city dwellers with all their dreams, ambitions and backgrounds who we want to give a warm welcome to our beautiful capital. A day full of happiness, fun, connection, new impressions and a little party on the water.
Who are we?
We are a collaboration of 16 Rotary clubs and Rotaracts from Amsterdam.
With this initiative, we want to contribute to a city where everyone feels welcome. We are committed to social connection, involvement and opportunities for everyone – young and old. With this event, we want to offer young newcomers a special experience during one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful events: SAIL!
